If something was important in the Hanseatic League, it was networking, joining forces, broadening horizons. Bringing the good from afar close by and vice versa. On Sunday 21 June, a concert will be offered in the St. Martin's Church that brings these elements to light in music & word. The choir Waal Vocaal and the choir school Senta under the direction of conductor Sylvia van der Vinne will perform vocal works from the time of the Hanseatic League.
St. Martin's Church organist Leendert Verduijn plays the Wolfferts-Heijneman organ. The programme includes works by Jacob Arcadelt, Orlando di Lasso, William Byrd, Antonio Valente, Sweelinck, Buxtehude, and one of the oldest organ pieces 'Estampie'. And the organ suite specially improvised for this occasion 'The Hanseatic League through a modern lens: Six Tableaux from Hanse-Stadt Bommel'.
Connecting words will be spoken by Carolina Blokland - den Hertog. A concert in the style of the New Hanseatic League, of which Zaltbommel is a member and where friendly cooperation is central.
Come and enjoy this unique co-production on the longest day of the year and meet fellow Bommelaars, Bommelewaarders, guests and friends in the centuries-old heart of the city. Admission is free. Start: 3.00 pm. Duration: approximately one hour.
