The Blue Bottle at Markt 6 is one of the most well-known historic buildings in Zaltbommel. The building owes its name to the blue bottle that once served as a sign and gave the building its unmistakable character. During the Hanseatic period, signs were indispensable in a city where many people could not read: they pointed the way to shops, inns and craftsmen. The Blue Bottle is a living reminder of the vibrant trading atmosphere of the medieval city.
