The Gasthuistoren at Oude Vismarkt 1 is one of the most imposing medieval structures in Zaltbommel. The tower formed part of the hospice and served as a defensive work and point of orientation in the city. Its massive, robust construction bears witness to medieval architecture at its finest. The tower still dominates its surroundings and is a reminder of the time when Zaltbommel was one of the most powerful Hanseatic cities in the Gelderland river area.
